Leadership@Ruskin

Since 2006 Ruskin College has run a Leadership in Democracy programme for trade union and NGO activists from countries in Eastern Europe and the Western Balkans that have been entering the democratisation process. The UK based programme was previously supported financially by the Webb Memorial Trust.

We are pleased to announce the further development of the Leadership programme here at Ruskin College, now titled Leadership@Ruskin.

The programme is available for UK and International Trade Unions, NGOs and Civil Society groups with the intention of developing activists' leadership skills so that they become more confident in challenging and changing existing norms. The Leadership@Ruskin programme also aims to encourage different organisation to work together for common outcomes.

Our experienced Leadership@Ruskin tutors are available to work with trade unions, NGOs and Civil Society groups in designing and delivering bespoke training packages at competitive rates, either at Ruskin College or in-country.

Previous courses designed and run by Leadership@Ruskin, both in the UK and internationally, have included:

•    Women and Leadership
•    Effective Campaigning
•    Building Leadership in Democratic Organisations
•    Organisational Change

"The module’s programme is full of various themes, which are directly related to looking at the knowledge that we already have from a new perspective. We are also given the opportunity to gain new skills and knowledge. Most importantly, we are allowed to step back and consider our own role in the changes that are taking place in our lives and around the world".
(Webb Scholar, 2010).

"After participating in the Webb Institute Leadership Development Programme 2010, a lot of information obtained during the programe, is now being used by my colleagues in the training of trade union leaders. The good teaching materials have been received positively by members of the Youth Council. The youth - the future of trade unions".
