Certificate of Higher Education in Labour Relations and Law
Course summary
Van Coulter

I used to work for my local council until I hurt my back in an accident. It was quite some time before I got anywhere near to being better, by which time I had lost my job. During my illness, I couldn't get about much. I had a lot of time to read, and for the first time, I had time to write what I wanted to write about.
I took an interest in the developing world and I applied to VSO for a posting, but I was turned down because of my poor qualifications. Whilst at my local library I noticed a booklet for courses at Ruskin College and I decided that I should return to full time education.
I'm now studying International Labour and Trade Union Studies. It ís a three year course and leads to a BA. Iím learning a great deal and enjoying it too. The teachers at Ruskin are very supportive and a lot of time is given to help students develop the skills that are needed to get the most out of the opportunity of returning to education. I'll be staying at Ruskin until I graduate. Then, I'll look for work in the developing world.
