On Thursday November 6th, at 7.30pm, Peter Cox will be visiting Ruskin to give a talk on The Radio Ballads.
The Radio Ballads were a series of innovative radio programmes made by Ewan MacColl, Peggy Seeger and Charles Parker, which mixed real-life recordings of fishermen, railway workers, road workers, teenagers, travellers and miners telling their stories interweaved with music specially written for each episode. They're classic documentaries and were very influential for future docudramas which, Kathy Come Home-style, mixed fact and fiction together.
