Wendy has been the College Counsellor here since 1997. She followed up her initial Degree in Psychology with a PGCE that led her into special education, working as a Special Needs Co-ordinator in an Oxford primary school.

Her interest soon focused on motivation for (and access to) learning, which in turn involved her in more holistic family support. At this stage, she augmented her training with a Diploma in Counselling, shifting her enthusiasm firmly in that direction and towards adult education in particular.

Over the years, Wendy has worked in a variety of educational settings, including FE and university institutions, alongside her work here at Ruskin. Wendy also has a private practice. Together, these provide a diverse client base, which she values.

She rather regrets the term 'counsellor', with its attendant misconceptions, and prefers to think of herself as one of many resources available to students, which you may use to enhance your overall learning and life experience. Wendy has thoroughly enjoyed her time here and looks forward to meeting many of you in the future.
