Steph Green  

Steph has been involved in youth and community work for over 30 years, mainly in NW England. She has experience as a practitioner in community based projects, outdoor education, playwork, arts projects, detached and club-based youth work. She has been a youth and community work trainer and tutor supporting the development of part time and full time youth and community workers. She has also taught and tutored in Youth and Community Work at two NW Universities. More recently she has been a senior manager, both in a local authority youth service and a national charity.  

Steph initially got involved in youth and community work through community based voluntary work with young lesbians and gay men in Manchester in the 1970’s. She has always had a strong commitment to feminist work with young women and to developing antiracist work with young people. Her work has encompassed the local authority, local and national voluntary sector and H.E. sectors.  

Steph qualified at Manchester Polytechnic (now Manchester Metropolitan University) in the 1980’s. She went on to do an MA in Educational Studies at Manchester University in the 1990’s. She joined Ruskin as Tutor in Youth and Community Work in September 2008.
