Information, Advice and Guidance
Up to now, most students completing long courses at Ruskin have either gone on to further higher education or directly into professional careers (e.g. from Youth and Community Work). Emphasis has been placed on information about access to higher education and on professional recruitment advice embedded in the BA Social Work and the current Foundation Degree in Youth and Community Work.
Ruskin students have access to the Careers Service at Oxford Brookes University for personal appointments, as a result of our membership of the Associate College Partnership at Brookes, and to Open University on-line careers advice.
The Academic Registrar at Ruskin is undertaking formal IAG training with College support. She offers advice to applicants and current students about financing their studies, meeting their accommodation and child care needs, and coping with personal and social issues. She has greatly improved the availability and display of relevant information in the College and is recognised by staff and students as a valuable resource.
