I studied Youth and Community Work at Ruskin College, graduating in 2015. My action research dissertation was focused on developing anti-racist work with white young people and our group work project was focused on exploring where banter ends and bullying begins.
My experience as a youth and community worker includes being the lead youth worker for a west Oxfordshire school where I ran an open access youth club, spending a summer as a support worker for the National Citizen Service, facilitating group sessions for adults in drug and alcohol recovery, working with homelessness orgnaisations, setting up a social enterprise café, working with adults living with mental health problems and working with young carers. When I am not working at Ruskin I work as the senior youth work leader for Wolvercote Young People’s Club and work for a charity called Safe that supports young people affected by crime.
Before studying at Ruskin I worked for a large retail company, as a store manager. In my spare time I enjoy growing vegetables, looking after my chickens and reading about intersectionality.
Studying at Ruskin transformed my life and I am so proud to now be on the staff team, where I can now support students on their journeys.
