IT Short Course – Spreadsheets

Purpose: Improving IT skills
Duration: 3 days, Mon – Wed
We are hoping to run this course from September 2020 and are happy to take expressions of interest. Anyone registering an expression of interest will be kept up-to-date with course information and dates once they have been confirmed.
What are the qualifications about?
This course will give you the skills to create professional standard presentations or use spreadsheets simply for personal use. You will develop practical IT skills which are so valued by employers.

If you are looking to enhance your IT skills, and improve your CV and career and employability prospects, this course is for you.
What do I need?
There are no entry requirements for this course, but it is best if you have basic computer skills and the ability to use a keyboard.

What sorts of things do they cover?
You will cover areas such as:
- How to record and manipulate numerical data in a spreadsheet (for example your income and expenditure)
- The use of formulae and functions to perform calculations and summarise data
- Skills in formatting and presenting data as well as creating charts

You will carry out practical IT exercises.

Guided learning hours are the hours you spend learning with your training provider or on your own. The guided learning hours for this qualification are:

Completing the Introduction to and Developing Spreadsheet Skills course usually takes:
- 3 days part time
This residential course runs from Monday to Wednesday.
What jobs could they lead to?
You can build on what you have learnt on this course by taking some of our other IT courses, such as PowerPoint, internet and email, and Word. This will then mean you can go on to achieve the ITQ for IT Users Award. The award has been carefully designed with employers to ensure it meets what they are looking for.
