IT Short Course (Beginners) – Presentation Software
This accredited part-time course will give you the IT knowledge and skills that you need to help you with future employment.
Level: Level 1
Purpose: Developing Computing Skills
Duration: 6 weeks, Wednesday am
We are hoping to run this course from September 2020 and are happy to take expressions of interest. Anyone registering an expression of interest will be kept up-to-date with course information and dates once they have been confirmed.
What are the qualifications about?
You will be developing your computing skills and confidence and get used to working with presentation software. The course will give you the key computer skills you need for both life and work.
Who are they for?
You may have been out of education for a while or are a non-English speaker looking to get on the job ladder. You will improve your employability prospects and your CV with this user-friendly course.
What do I need?
You don’t need any specific qualifications for this course. Basic mouse and keyboard skills would be helpful.

You will be assessed though practical exercises.
How long do they take?
Completing the Award in Computer Skills Level 1 usually takes:
- 6 weeks (Wednesdays 9.30am – 12.15pm)
What jobs could they lead to?
You can build on what you have learnt on this course by taking some of the other IT courses we offer here at Ruskin, such as Word, spreadsheets and internet. This will then mean you can go on to achieve the ITQ for IT Users Award. The content of this award has been carefully designed with employers to ensure its relevant to the real world and meets what employers are looking for.
