Hatha Yoga: Connect and Calm
Yoga improves health and wellbeing and helps you to deal more effectively with the stresses of life. Using the breath to connect to our body and calm our mind, the classes will use classical Hatha yoga postures and meditation, to improve body alignment, build strength and flexibility and reduce stress.
The course is suitable for complete beginners and those with some experience who want a regular gentle and relaxing practice.
The practice will build week-by-week, introducing yoga postures (asanas), alignment, breathing exercises (pranayama) and relaxation and meditation techniques.
Poses can be modified to be accessible to everyone.

- Recognise the signs of stress and tension and use yogic techniques to reduce these symptoms

What will I need?
In order to access Ruskin’s online courses, you will need a computer/laptop/tablet/smart phone with:
- a webcam
- speakers and microphone
- portable headset
- access to Google Meet
You should also be able to send and receive emails, open links in emails and open and save documents.

Yoga is practised in bare feet and comfortable clothes. If you have a yoga mat, that’s ideal. If not, you can pad the floor with a bath or beach towel. If you find sitting cross-legged or kneeling on the floor uncomfortable, having a cushion or a kitchen chair to hand is helpful.
By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge to practice safely at home or have the confidence to join general yoga classes.
What will it cost me?
The cost for this course is £35. It is free if you are unemployed or earning less than £17,004 per annum.
