What are the qualifications about?
You will develop the knowledge and skills required to progress to a higher level vocational qualification, specifically a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences or related areas. You will refresh and enhance your English and Maths skills, and learn how to study effectively on higher level courses.

Who are they for?
If your goal is to study in higher education, perhaps via a Level 3 Access to Education course, in preparation for a career in the humanities and social sciences sector or a related area, then this is the ideal course for you.

What do I need?
You don’t need prior qualifications for this course. For Level 3 Access to HE a GCSE grade 5 in English or Maths is recommended. Applicants must be over 19 and have been out of full-time education for a year. There will be Maths and English assessments prior to the start of the course to make sure this is the right course for you.

How will I learn and be assessed?
The course is taught through a combination of face-to-face and online lessons, group work and independent learning activities. Assessment is through a mixture of workbooks, essays, presentations and short examinations.

Completing the Pre-Access to Humanities and Social Sciences Level 2 Certificate takes:
- 62 hours over 8 weeks, Mon & Thu, 6.00pm – 8.00pm (Online) and Wed 9.30am – 2.00pm (In College)

What jobs could they lead to?
The aim of the Pre-Access course is to prepare you for study in higher education in preparation for a career in the humanities and social sciences sector or a related area. Although the qualification has not been designed to lead directly to employment, it will support you to take the first step towards a career in a range of professions in health and human science and related areas.
