Pilates
Ready for a new start in 2021? Want to improve your physical and mental wellbeing? Join this short course which will introduce you to the joint benefits of yoga and Pilates in the comfort of your own home.
The yoga element will introduce you to meditation, pranayama and basic poses while the Pilates element will focus on a classical mat routine emphasising the 6 Pilates principles of breath, centering, concentration, control, precision and flow.

What will I need?
In order to access Ruskin’s online courses, you will need a computer/laptop/tablet/smart phone with:
- a webcam
- speakers and microphone
- portable headset
- access to Google Meet
You should also be able to send and receive emails, open links in emails and open and save documents.

You will need to complete a short confidential health questionnaire which will be made available on google classroom.
Pilates is practised in bare feet and comfortable clothes. If you have a yoga mat, that’s ideal. If not, you can pad the floor with a bath or beach towel. If you find sitting cross-legged or kneeling on the floor uncomfortable, having a cushion or a kitchen chair to hand is helpful.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course you will have:
- An awareness of core muscles and ways on how to develop core strength.
- Cultivated the mind-body connection through breath and movement.
- Learnt to develop a home practice based individual needs and limitation
- Learnt how to live in the NOW and not the past or future.

Next steps?
Once you have established a solid practice and understanding, you can start learning the more advanced techniques of breath work, yoga poses and Pilates exercises.

What will it cost me?
The cost for this course is £60. It is free if you are unemployed or earning less than £17,004 per annum.
