An Introduction to Employment Law
About to start a new job or already in work but unsure of your rights? This is the course to help you understand some of the elements of employment law that protect you in the workplace. You’ll look at discrimination, health and safety at work, contracts including terms and conditions and how to deal with any breaches.

What will I need?
In order to access Ruskin’s online courses, you will need a computer/laptop/tablet/smart phone with:
- a webcam
- speakers and microphone
- portable headset
- access to Google Meet
You should also be able to send and receive emails, open links in emails and open and save documents.
All resources will be made available on google classroom.

By the end of this course you will know:
- How to define the terms of a contract of employment
- What is unfair and fair in relation to dismissal
- About the right not to be discriminated against at work
- Health and safety at work
- The difference between civil and criminal law in employment.
- Remedies in Employment Tribunals and other courts
How will I be assessed?
During this course you will be assessed through:
- Short activities
You could go on to study on our Level 2 Certificate in Employment Law.
What will it cost me?
The cost for this course is £60. It is free if you are unemployed or earning less than £17,004 per annum.
