Apprenticeships for Employers
Are you an employer considering recruiting an apprentice? We offer a series of apprenticeship programmes to support the development of your employees.
You will reap the benefits of a stimulated workforce, higher productivity, improved competitiveness and staff with the skills and qualifications you need.
You will be joining an ever-growing number of employers that are looking to the future and reaping the many rewards of offering apprenticeships to their staff.
Who are the apprenticeships for?
Apprenticeships are not just for young people and school leavers; they’re open to any member of your staff aged 16 upwards.
Programmes range from Level 2 to Level 7 in a wide variety of occupational areas, across many sectors. Apprenticeships can be for people entering a new industry or for current employees wishing to develop and enhance their knowledge and skills.
How does it work?
Your apprentices study on one of our flexible vocational programmes, which typically last between 12 and 36 months, depending on the level. Degree level apprenticeships can be longer.
Apprentices typically spend one day a month at Ruskin, at a training workshop, offering them stimulation and variety, without any significant loss of work hours for you.
In addition to the monthly workshop they will undertake other training, which will include:
- Practical/project-based work
- Distance learning (e-learning, moodle etc)
- Assignment/assessment work
Apprenticeships are often flexible. We realise that work isn’t always 9-5, so we will work with you to find the solution to your training needs.
What are the costs?
The government invests significantly in apprenticeships, which represents a fast growing and cost-effective area of workforce training and development.
If your annual payroll bill is less than £3 million, the government will fund 95% of the training costs with a 5% contribution from employers, based on the government-approved funding value for each apprenticeship programme. Funding values range from £1,500-£27,000, depending on level and specialism.
If you are a larger employer with a payroll bill of over £3 million each year, you would need to be paying an apprenticeship levy to HMRC of 0.5% of your payroll, which would entitle you to free training of your apprentices.
You can find out all you need to know about paying the levy at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pay-apprenticeship-levy. Our expert advice can help you maximise the benefits of the levy and make it work for you. Call us on 01865 759600 or email email@example.com.
