These courses are for adults for whom English is a second language.
These weekly sessions are delivered over 14 weeks (with a break at half term).
These courses run on a Monday for beginners and Wednesdays for higher level students.
They are ideal classes to build your confidence in English and support you to move on to a suitable English course and qualifications.
These courses are accredited by Ruskin College.
These courses will include a mix of English, assertiveness and knowledge of English cultures and systems. You will look at different evertday situations and learn how to communicate clearly in those situations and how to deal with daily life.
This course is free for all students as long as you do not have an A*-C in GCSE English Language.
Ordinarily you will need to be a citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) and have been resident in a country within the EEA for 3 years, excluding Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. However, if you are a refugee or asylum seeker, please get in touch as you may be eligible for funding.
If your household income is less than £30,994 we may be able to provide support with childcare costs with a registered childminder whilst you attend the course. Please ring 01865 759798 for more information.

This course will support your development of English skills which are crucial to furthering your employment opportunities and to progress with further study and/or higher education.
From this course you have the possibility to progress onto our intensive Improving your English Course or Functional English (you will be able to work through the different levels of this qualification until you reach level 2 which is the same level as an A* to C at GCSE.)
Further study could include applying for one of our progression residential courses to get a taste of College life or apply for our Preparing for Employment course if your focus is employment related or our Preparing for Further Study if that is your focus. This could form part of your pathway to Access to HE by completing our Pre-Access in Skills for Social Care or our L2 Certificate in Writing for a Career in the Arts.
We offer Access to HE in Health Professions, Social Science or Health and Social Care. Improving your English skills will support your application for all of these possible courses.
