Drug Awareness

4 Day Residential Course (over 2 weekends)

This single unit vocational course is for you if you are looking to pursue a career in this field. This might be working with those suffering from drug abuse or recovering from it, or if you might be looking to extend your knowledge of drug abuse, the problems which arise from it and how these can be combatted. This course will provide you with an introduction to drug misuse and the support available. It is tailored towards you if you are looking to gain a professional knowledge of drug abuse issues to carry forward either in your personal, work or academic life.

We have one course running:  

9 February 2019 - 10 February and 16 February 2019 - 17 February 2019

This residential course runs over two weekends on Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 4pm, you would need to attend both weekends to complete the course.

This is a vocational course and the aim is to arm you with knowledge and a better understanding of drug abuse and related problems. The residential course runs over two weekends on Saturday and Sunday between 9am and 4pm, you would need to attend both weekends to complete the course. Over the weekends you will be given the option to accept accommodation on our Headington campus.

It is assumed that you will have little or no prior knowledge of the content of this course.

The course will cover things such as:

  • An introduction to drug classification

  • Learning about the impact of drug abuse on society

  • Understanding the impact of drug abuse on those people linked to the drug user

  • Learning about the health of drug users

  • Understanding issues associated with withdrawal from drug abuse

It can be linked to any profession where you may be in contact or working with individuals that may be using drugs or working with concerned others/family members of drug users, i.e social work, NHS, youth and community work.

There will be no assessment connected with this course as it is designed for gaining information.

There are no academic requirements for entry to the course. There is no requirement to be working in the substance misuse field already. This course is available for adults (19+).
