Ruskin started deliveries of a range of seedlings to primary schools and community groups across Cowley, Littlemore and Blackbird Leys today.
The community initiative was organised by Sally Mercer, Ruskin’s green-fingered Programme Manager for FE. She set a variety of vegetable seeds in anticipation of the College’s exciting new horticulture curriculum and enjoyed a bumper crop.
Sadly unable to start the programme this term due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, Sally and fellow tutor Emma offered the seedlings to schools and groups in the city. These will be delivered over the coming days.
As well as tomatoes, cucumber, beans, pumpkins, curly kale, chick peas, green squash and courgettes, Sally has also prepared growing boxes of lettuce and potted tomatoes to grow at home.
We hope everyone enjoys growing the vegetables and are looking forward to watching the progress.
