Ruskin received a glowing assessment for its provision of support services to students, following a Matrix Standard inspection.
The Matrix Standard assesses and measures information, advice and guidance services, which support students in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.
The inspection looked at all aspects of college activity and spoke to a wide range of people during the visit. Key areas of praise within the report include the high levels of individualised student support, the ethos of safety and inclusion, the IAG provision to students and successful partnership working.
The report stated that the college’s IAG provision is ‘excellent and includes high level satisfaction results, as well as achievement and retention’. It goes on to say that ‘people feel safe and valued’ and praised the ‘ongoing pastoral support, small class sizes, extensive encouragement and thorough feedback’. The inspectors also noted that ‘support for individuals is a key factor in the success of students who may not have accessed learning without the encouragement and safe environment of Ruskin’.
The inspection outcome ensures that the college’s Student Services, Access to Higher Education, Short and Long Courses & TUC Organising Academy are fully accredited to the Matrix Quality Standard for Information, Advice and Guidance Services, until its next review in 2022.
