Ruskin students rally to help the homeless in Oxford
5th March 2019
Ruskin Health and Social Care students, together with the Ruskin Students’ Union, held an open meeting to attempt to tackle the issue of homelessness in Oxford in the Ruskin Room at Exeter College.
The aim of the meeting was to enable people to come together and voice their opinions on the issue, to discuss strategies to address the worsening homelessness situation, and to work towards finding solutions as a community.
The group, Defeating Homelessness in Oxford, said: “As a collective we feel that the council is not doing enough to help the homeless – a vulnerable group in society – and this meeting is an opportunity for people to get together and voice their opinions regarding homelessness and reducing it.
“We want to tackle the issue from multiple angles and we want to help spot gaps in the support systems already there and see what would be most beneficial and obtainable.”
