My areas of expertise are children with complex behaviours and supporting adoptive families of large sibling groups and older children. I have a great deal of experience in adoption and special guardianship support and led the support for Thurrock Council for many years. I have worked with many children and young people who have experienced trauma and abuse in their lives and have supported them through their experiences.
I’m a Practice Educator and enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with social work students. I have delivered training in various organisational settings and try to incorporate my Theraplay therapeutic skills to enhance professionals’ and students’ practical learning.
I enjoy writing poetry and short stories. My first book was published in 2013 entitled I Don’t Know Why, a collection of stories for looked-after and adopted children and have had a selection of poems published in newspapers and magazines.
I was attracted by the history and the values of Ruskin and feel passionate that everyone should be given the opportunity of pursuing their dreams. I feel quite privileged to be working in an environment surrounded by nature and people who want to learn and fulfil their potential.
