My last permanent role was as Principal Social Worker where I had the privilege of working with all of Children’s Services from NQSWs to the DCS offering support and challenge to ensure that the experience of the child remained at the heart of the work. In this role I had the opportunity to undertake many different tasks within the Local Authority: partnership reviews, serious case reviews, training, coaching, mentoring, quality assurance, meeting with families to resolve complaints, ensuring the learning and development of our staff was meeting their needs, establishing an Academy for NQSW, undertaking their ASYE and completing various different assessments.
The experience I have gained in practice, at different levels within the Local Authority, enables me to support the learning of social work students and assist them to be prepared for practice.
I have long appreciated the history and ethos of Ruskin College; it sits with my social work values. I am excited to take up the opportunity to be part of shaping the social workers of the future.
